The project objectives are:
- reduce as much as possible the devastating negative impact of such trauma by learning: Who is involved, i.e. identifying in three EU countries these children via results from prior femicide project in IT and LT 'Fear in IPV' (Daphne 2005-II-086/W) and the National shelters network ‘DiRe’ and in an additional EU country Cyprus which has a unique ad hoc culture, also very conservative; When it happened so to establish short, middle and long term impact; What happened meaning the legal custody issues that were undertaken, whether these were/are in the real interest of the child/adolescent orphan, this is done via field research;
- address needs of children/adolescents from femicide by looking at the risk and protective factors and develop guidelines for social service, law enforcement to reduce the risk that these children priorities are not taken into account and decisions are made without expertise, procedures and strict regulation;
- develop the www.switch-off.eu website for posting information, material and create a forum for support,on-line counselling, information sharing with victim, workers;
- draft EU Recommendation for Policy Makers to deal with the problem at a broader political level keeping in mind that the costs related to these orphans are enormous also in terms of risk that they present for themselves and the society in the future.
